- The use of ENLITEN technology supports sustainable tyre development while enhancing tyre performance.
- The fusion of ENLITEN technology and Bridgestone Commonality Modularity Architecture (BCMA) creates shared value.
- Turanza 6 marks the first significant ENLITEN equipped product in the Australian and New Zealand market.
SYDNEY, New South Wales (1 August, 2025) — Market leading tyre company, Bridgestone has outlined the role ENLITEN technology will play in its future product line up, as well as the use of common architecture in future developments to continue to meet the evolving needs of the market.
With the rising popularity of electrified models on Australian and New Zealand roads, Bridgestone is ensuring its future product range is ‘EV ready’ through the introduction of ENLITEN technology.
ENLITEN is Bridgestone’s base technology that evolves sustainability through the development and production of the tyre, while enhancing the performance characteristics of the tyres and pursuing ultimate customisation in its design.
Bridgestone is also fusing ENLITEN technology with another design philosophy, Bridgestone Commonality Modularity Architecture (BCMA) which sees a significant reduction in development and production resources. BCMA consolidates tyre parts into three modules: the body ply, belt and tread, and shares these across different products.
The benefit of this approach will accelerate in the coming years, with ENLITEN technology forming the basis for all future Bridgestone developments, starting with Turanza 6.
According to Head of Sustainability & Communications at Bridgestone Australia & New Zealand, Jo Hayes, ENLITEN technology is a key driver in the company’s global transition towards being a sustainable solutions company, creating shared value for customers and society.
“ENLITEN will underpin Bridgestone’s future across our entire supply chain. It’s not only technology that provides benefit to customers, but an entire design philosophy across the business that is more efficient and sustainable,” Ms Hayes said.
“Not every tyre can be the same nor offer equal benefits. ENLITEN technology enables ultimate customisation to meet a customers’ environmental, performance and safety needs in line with the intended application of the tyre.
“Turanza 6 is the first mainstream ENLITEN equipped product on the market and through its fusion with Bridgestone Commonality Modularity Architecture (BCMA), which modularises tyres for efficiency, today’s development of Turanza 6 will be utilised for future tyre developments.”
ENLITEN Technology is also how Bridgestone will meet the requirements of electric vehicles, with Turanza 6’s development prioritising noise and comfort, efficiency, and wet performance.
According to Sales Director at Bridgestone Australia, Claudio Sodano, Turanza 6 addresses the needs of electric vehicles by delivering on the characteristics that matter most.
“Electric vehicles place a greater emphasis on certain characteristics of tyres. They are typically heavier than their petrol or diesel equivalents, have increased torque, and are nearly silent. Turanza 6 ensures the needs of EV owners are answered,” Mr Sodano said.
Mr Sodano has nearly 30 years’ experience in the tyre industry spanning across technical field services, product planning and sales. He started with Bridgestone as a Technical Services Engineer in 1996 and served in numerous roles throughout his rise to Sales Director in 2022.
“ENLITEN technology gives us the ability to really customise the tyre to meet these needs, and provide peace of mind and comfort to motorists regardless of the powertrain their car has.
“The reality is that many tyres can be fitted to an electric vehicle, but Turanza 6 is much better suited to it because it has been engineered for the application. Like any tyre choice, it’s important to weigh up the best option based on your car, driving style and the characteristics that are more important to you.
“Turanza 6 excels because it’s such a well-balanced tyre, providing confidence and peace of mind with its wet handling, as well as the quiet, comfortable ride it provides, and its efficiency,” Mr Sodano said.
