SYDNEY, New South Wales (1 August, 2025) — Australia and New Zealand’s Most Trusted Tyre Brand, Bridgestone has launched its most advanced touring tyre to date. Turanza 6 is the new flagship touring product in Bridgestone’s range, providing peace of mind and comfort to motorists across passenger and SUV segments.
Engineered with innovative ENLITEN technology, Turanza 6 is EV ready and meets the requirements of the evolving needs of consumers with the rise in popularity of hybrids, plug-in-hybrids and full electric vehicles, as well as for conventional internal combustion engine cars. Turanza 6 provides a quiet and comfortable ride, excellent wet handling, as well as fuel and energy efficiency.
According to Bridgestone Australia & New Zealand Managing Director, Heath Barclay, Turanza 6 is a significant introduction to the range because of the technology it brings to the market, along with a comprehensive size range of 75 sizes.
“Turanza 6 is an exciting product for Bridgestone because it’s the mainstream introduction of ENLITEN technology in Australia and New Zealand. This is technology that will underpin our future developments and products,” Mr Barclay said.
“The introduction of Turanza 6 also sees the expansion of our highly popular Turanza touring range into SUV sizes and allows us to provide a safe, reliable and durable solution in sizes previously not offered in our line up,” Mr Barclay said.
“Turanza 6 highlights how we continue to innovate and introduce products that meet the changing needs in our market – ensuring that we have an EV ready product for modern motorists and bringing ENLITEN technology to our core product ranges,” he said.
Introducing ENLITEN Technology
ENLITEN is Bridgestone's base technology for product design, enabling ultimate customisation in safety, sustainability, and performance. ENLITEN technology provides Turanza 6 with its excellent grip levels, wet handling performance, durability and lower rolling resistance.
The design philosophy focusses on three key areas in the development of a new tyre: safety, sustainability, and performance. Through the overarching end-to-end ENLITEN strategy, Bridgestone is using the technology to support decarbonisation efforts in production and the product life cycle through emission reduction, resource efficiency and material circularity, without compromising on safety and performance.
The durability of ENLITEN technology is already proven on Australian roads through the iconic Bridgestone World Solar Challenge - an event Bridgestone uses as a platform to challenge its sustainable tyre technology in a "mobile lab". Nearly all teams competing in the 2023 event utilised specially developed ENLITEN equipped tyres for maximum efficiency and durability.
With ENLITEN technology, Bridgestone remains committed to ensuring the highest levels of safety in both dry and wet conditions, while also delivering outstanding performance in the focus area of each product, delivering on the key criteria for the customer. For Turanza 6, this focussed on wet handling, efficiency, and noise and comfort levels,
Turanza 6’s Market Position
Since it was introduced in the early 1990s, Turanza has been Bridgestone’s premium touring tyre range, striving to balance superior comfort and high-level performance. Turanza’s origin is the combination of ‘touring’ and Bridgestone’s iconic performance sub-brand, Potenza.
Over the past 30 years, Turanza has become a brand synonymous with comfort and trust for consumers and car manufacturers, with Turanza as original equipment on many of the world’s most popular makes and models including Toyota, BMW and Mercedes, as well as a highly popular choice for Australian and New Zealand motorists.
The Turanza range complements the Bridgestone portfolio, sitting alongside the performance focussed Potenza range and fuel-saving, low rolling resistance Ecopia line, and the 4x4 focussed Dueler range.
Turanza 6 is an addition to the range, being offered in a total of 75 sizes ranging from 195/65R15 to suit Toyota Carolla, Mazda 3 and VW Golf, right through to 315/30R22 to suit BMW X Series SUVs, and everything in between.
Bridgestone Australia & New Zealand’s General Manager of Marketing, David Honner, says Turanza 6’s introduction comes at a pivotal time and provides consumers with an easy choice for peace of mind and comfort.
“There’s an undeniable shift towards SUVs and larger vehicles in our market. The introduction of Turanza 6 is timely because it enhances our offering, providing tyres for vehicles that are quiet and comfortable in addition to having grip and braking performance for peace of mind on the roads,” Mr Honner said.
“Being able to offer our iconic Turanza touring range for the modern ‘everyday’ car is ideal because it’s a product range that motorists have come to know, love and trust, and now we have a common product across passenger and SUV sizes.
“Turanza 6 has been introduced to bring peace of mind and comfort to our roads with its excellent wet handling, and efficiency. As Australia and New Zealand’s most trusted tyre brand, this is an important product in our line up,” he said.
Turanza 6’s development
The Turanza 6 development exemplifies Bridgestone’s dedication to advancing its unique Sustainability Business Model*1 that links business with efforts to realize carbon neutrality and a circular economy across the value chain, from the ‘produce and sell’ and ‘use’ of products to their ‘renewal’ to raw materials, as part of the company’s end-to-end ENLITEN business strategy.
As a sustainable solutions company, Bridgestone is constantly evolving its R&D process to become more efficient and sustainable, a key focus of the ENLITEN design philosophy. Turanza 6 delivers on the primary targets: excellent wet performance, durable, quiet and comfortable, fuel and energy efficient, and EV ready.
Turanza 6’s tread pattern design ensures it excels in the wet. The divergent shoulder block design supports more effective water evacuation, while the tread block and sipe design of the central ribs helps optimise water evacuation.
The design construction of Turanza 6 also ensures tyre noise is kept to a minimum through noise reducing elements such as the double angle tread block sipes, double sequence pattern design and closed shoulder lug design. As a result, it’s optimised for a more silent ride in the absence of engine noise when fitted to an EV.
As an EV ready tyre, Turanza 6 is also engineered to compensate for the high torque demands of electrified vehicles. It uses Bridgestone’s latest generation compound technology to provide its handling characteristics, while also giving it durability.
Turanza 6 and the Bridgestone E8 Commitment
