Shane Jacobson Joins Bridgestone's New Strategic Journey as Mobility Ambassador

MELBOURNE, Victoria (29 April, 2021) — Actor and self-confessed rev-head Shane Jacobson has teamed up with Australia's Most Trusted Tyre Brand, Bridgestone, as the company's newly appointed 'mobility ambassador' – strengthening and formalising the existing six-year relationship with the company.

In his official appointment as mobility ambassador, Shane Jacobson will work with Bridgestone Australia on a number of initiatives over the next two years to support the company's evolution from a leading tyre supplier, to a provider of advanced and sustainable mobility solutions, in line with Bridgestone Corporation's global vision for the next three decades.
Since 2015, Shane has immersed himself in several key projects with the company, such as playing an integral role in Bridgestone Family Channel conferences and as the company's ambassador for the biennial Bridgestone World Solar Challenge – travelling the route with the Bridgestone team and competitors, , showcasing the event through his own experience.

"Shane isn't a spokesperson – he's part of the Bridgestone family. He's been a part of so many Bridgestone initiatives over the years and in that time has built incredible rapport with our employees and Family Channel network, so the time was right to formalise what has been a great relationship over the years," said Bridgestone Australia & New Zealand Managing Director, Stephen Roche. 

"He's genuinely interested in our business, the people in our network, our products, and our future. It's because of this sincere passion that his appointment as mobility ambassador was such an obvious fit."

According to Shane Jacobson, the mobility ambassadorship was a natural progression because of the alignment to his own passions, and builds on the prosperous long-term relationship with the tyre company.

"Bridgestone and I? We go way back, and I'm thrilled to join them as their mobility ambassador. It's a bit like getting married – eventually you look back at what you've built together and realise how close you've become based on common beliefs and decide its time to make it official," Shane said.

"I love working with Bridgestone. They're genuinely thinking about the future and striving to make a difference. The company is represented by great people – both at the corporate office and throughout the country in stores, and I'm looking forward to bringing the 10-year Bridgestone World Solar Challenge partnership extension to life as well as all the other exciting projects Bridgestone has in store over the coming years."

As mobility ambassador, Shane will be working closely with Bridgestone to help realise its newly announced global strategic direction, by engaging with employees and the Bridgestone Family Channel network through ideation and concept development.

"Shane doesn't just have a passion for our business, he understands it from a strategic level. With his uncanny ability to make even the most complex concepts relatable, he'll play a vital role in enhancing the understanding of our future direction in his unique and engaging way," Mr Roche added.

Jacobson says he's excited to be able to contribute in new and meaningful ways towards the business, beyond being an advocate.

"Bridgestone is such an iconic brand in the Australian automotive landscape. Brock, Holden, Bridgestone – they go hand in hand. What's important now is that they stay an icon into the future, and I'm looking forward to working with them to bring their new direction to life," Shane added.

Bridgestone's new global strategic direction was announced in mid-2020 with a vision of providing social value and customer value as a sustainable solutions company today, tomorrow and toward the future in 2050.

This evolution will see Bridgestone place an even greater emphasis on its global Corporate Social Responsibility initiative, 'Our Way to Serve', which aims to enhance the way people live, move, work and play through three priority areas: mobility, people and the environment.

The original partnership with Jacobson was initiated because of his own interest in these areas: his passion for cars and trucks aligning to mobility, his role as Chief Scout of Victoria supporting youth, and his understanding of the importance of environmental stewardship providing the perfect foundation for what has become a strong relationship.
