AUCKLAND, New Zealand (24 January, 2024) — Bridgestone, New Zealand's leading tyre brand, has reinforced its commitment to making a difference to the lives of those affected by blood cancer with a donation of $52,605 to Leukaemia & Blood Cancer New Zealand (LBC), showcasing the remarkable support from New Zealand motorists.

The latest donation was raised through the 2023 edition of Bridgestone's annual 'Drive for a Cure' campaign, where $3 was committed for each Bridgestone branded passenger, 4x4, and SUV tyre sold through Blood Cancer Awareness month.

Over the past five years, Bridgestone New Zealand, through its network of Bridgestone Select and Bridgestone Tyre Centres, has raised nearly $250,000 for LBC. This significant contribution underscores Bridgestone's dedication to supporting the community and making a meaningful difference in the lives of those living with blood cancer through the values of the Bridgestone E8 Commitment.

"We're proud to contribute to the work of Leukaemia & Blood Cancer New Zealand because it is a demonstration of Bridgestone's vision of a more sustainable society. Initiatives like our 'Drive for a Cure' campaign are important because it allows our customers to also make a difference through simply choosing Bridgestone," said Bridgestone's Director of New Zealand Business, John Staples.

The funds raised through the 'Drive for a Cure' campaign play a crucial role in providing personalized support, information, and education to patients and families, as well as funding research, raising awareness, and providing advocacy. The campaign has a direct impact on the lives of over 21,000 New Zealanders currently living with blood cancer, supporting services such as fuel vouchers to ensure access to vital treatments.

"We are delighted with the success of this year's Bridgestone's Drive for a cure campaign" said Leukaemia & Blood Cancer New Zealand CEO, Peter Fergusson.

"Last year was a tough year for many people but dealing with the impact of a blood cancer diagnosis makes it even harder. Bridgestone's generosity has made a difference to so many patients and their families throughout New Zealand."

Bridgestone's ongoing support of Leukaemia & Blood Cancer NZ exemplifies the values of empowerment, contribution to society, and ease, bringing comfort and peace of mind. Through community-led partnerships aligned with the Bridgestone E8 Commitment, the company continues to work towards a better future and a more sustainable society.
