Department of Jobs and Small Business-run Youth Jobs PaTH program has proven itself as a strong recruitment channel for leading tyre company, Bridgestone.

The PaTH program enabled Bridgestone to try a new approach to overcome recruitment challenges as well as give young people in local communities an opportunity to take part in an internship working in the tyre industry.

Bridgestone worked closely with the Department of Jobs and Small Business, as well as job active providers, to identify potential candidates for various positions around Australia, streamlining the recruitment process.

Bridgestone has more than 1,500 staff across Australia and New Zealand, with more than 400 locations around Australia. Bridgestone operates a number of company owned locations as well as Bandag retread factories.

According to Bridgestone Australia National HR Manager, Sarah Duffield, the Youth Jobs PaTH program provided a new means of attracting job candidates who displayed the qualities Bridgestone seeks.

"We are looking for people that are motivated, that want to work, want to learn, do the best that they can do, and work safely. It's a really key thing for us," Ms Duffield said.

"The Youth Job PaTH program was a great opportunity for us to engage with the community and give youth a chance at a great company and a career path with Bridgestone.

"Bridgestone is getting candidates that want to work, are really motivated, interested, and they do have that passion that we're looking for."

The Youth Jobs PaTH program has been the catalyst for a number of new recruits for Bridgestone across its commercial truck locations and Bandag retread factories, and continues to prove itself as a resource of motivated individuals.

The Youth Jobs PaTH program aligns with Bridgestone's 'Our Way to Serve' CSR platform, which has supporting people, especially youth, as a one of its priority areas.

"The Youth Job PaTH program was something that we thought was a really good initiative in terms of helping youth in the community, and another avenue to get some really keen people to work for us," Ms Duffield added.

"Right through the company we've had great feedback, support and engagement in the program."
